Welcome to the Saint Joseph Abbey Retreat Center!

From Our Director…

We are excited to begin another “retreat year” here at Saint Joseph Abbey Retreat Center, and we look forward to welcoming all of you back to this very special place.

As you know, the theme of this year’s retreats is “Our Common Call to Holiness.” Our retreat facilitators have prepared meaningful and insightful presentations to not only explain what it means to be called to holiness, but also the many ways in which we can strive to both achieve and share holiness.

Below are summaries of the presentations which will be made by our team of facilitators:

• Sister Judith Gomila, M.S.C.: “Holiness means being yourself-Everyday life can lead to holiness by getting up close and personal with the Beatitudes and sitting at the feet of Jesus.”

• Fr. Augustine Foley, O.S.B.: “A call to holiness is primarily a call to discipleship and intimacy with Jesus.”

• Fr. Peter Hammett, O.S.B.: “The secular nature of holiness puts holiness within our reach.”

• Fr. Jude Israel, O.S.B.: “The primary virtues help us to combat the demons confronting us, thus leading us to holiness. Holiness is living in moderation.”

• Fr. Basil Burns, O.S.B.: “How Mary and the angels assist us in living a life of holiness.”

I am hopeful that your upcoming retreat will be a grace-filled experience and that our team of gifted facilitators will help you to recognize and heed “Our Common Call to Holiness.”
